In addition to an extensive list of necessary facility improvements projected for the next several years, we are in the process of implementing an electronic medical records (EMR) system. Currently all records are documented with pen, paper, and Microsoft Office, with paper documents being stored onsite for a number of years. Records include counseling session notes, behavioral incidents, provider appointment logs, medications taken, and so on. This is a manual, time intensive process, not to mention we are running out of storage room.

An EMR system is considered to be crucial for the security and safety of individual records, and a major boost in efficiency for agencies like us with limited staff. The benefits are that it would enable us to eliminate the need for paper tracking and storage, and enhance and modernize our process, allowing us to spend less time on administrative tasks, and focus more on the children under our care. Due to the initial implementation cost and ongoing maintenance costs, this is one of the reasons why fundraising in 2025 will be one of our top priorities as we work to secure the resources needed for this critical upgrade.
